Histon and Impington are either the Great and Little Shelford of the north or Great and Little Shelford  are the Histon and Impington of the south, depending on where you come from. They are loosely independent villages but come together to be one of the most highly sought-after villages north of the city. They sit just 3 miles from Cambridge City Centre and are within easy reach of many transport links including the A14/M11 road networks and Cambridge North Railway Station. The guided busway provides a road-traffic free route into town, with a segregated cycleway beside it for the health-or-environment-motivated weather-brave commuter.

There is excellent schooling for all ages from pre-school to sixth form at Impington VC, great local shopping and plenty of pubs and places to eat. Plus a duck pond.

There is excellent schooling for all ages from pre-school to sixth form at Impington VC, great local shopping and plenty of pubs and places to eat. Plus a duck pond. Histon FC once came within a whisker of getting into the football league and this coincided with the time when Cambridge United were a bit rubbish making Histon quite the talk of town. But that’s all passed now that Cambridge are flying high with a world-class side again. If you’re after the sort of lifestyle that doesn’t require using a car to live or get into Cambridge then Histon and Impington fit the bill perfectly.
